The streaming series highlights Murdaugh’s personal family drama and extensive reporting by journalist Mandy Matney, who creates the Murdaugh Murders Podcast.

Co-creators Michael D. Fuller and Erin Lee Carr will join executive producer Nick Antosca in producing the greenlit drama series.

Nick previously worked with Patricia on the 2019 miniseries The Act, which chronicled the true crime story behind DeeDee Blanchard, played by the actress, and Gypsy Rose.

The TV series tells the true story of abusive mother DeeDee, who pretended for years that Gypsy had leukemia and muscular dystrophy, and of Gypsy, who convinced her boyfriend to murder her mother.

Thanks to her strong acting, Patricia won both an Emmy and a Golden Globe in the category of Best Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie.

The new Hulu series is produced by the same companies that made The Act – Eat the Cat and Universal Studio Group’s UCP.
