Alex Jones claims her ex Steve Jones faked being sick to steal her Angelina Jolie interview, leading her to make COVENANT with him

The One Show host Alex Jones has claimed that her ex Steve Jones faked being sick to steal a gig with Angelina Jolie.

The TV presenter, 46, discussed what had happened to him Dish podcast hosts Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett on Monday as she details stories from her personal life and celebrity encounters.

Alex said she was working as an entertainment correspondent on the Channel 4 show Rise when the chance to interview Angelina Jolie came up, until Steve stole the show.

“Usually they’d call in the morning to ask if they could come over for an interview or a junket,” Alex shared.

“I was staying in his flat when I was working in London and he answered the landline and said, ‘Although not there. She’s not feeling well, she had to go back to Cardiff,’ I was in Topshop.”

“So he did the interview,” she claimed.

The Welsh beauty is now a mother of three and married to insurance broker Charlie Thomson, having tied the knot in 2015.

TV presenters, Alex and Steve, dated from 1999-2002, later reuniting to present Let’s Dance For Comic Relief, remaining close friends for the show.

In 2003, Steve landed a job as a presenter on the weekend show T4 after interviewing Angelina on the red carpet and revealing that he had divorced Alex at the time.

Alex has previously told the story and admitted that she broke up with her partner because of the betrayal, but never named Steve as the culprit before.

Speaking on the Thanks A Million podcast with Angela Scanlon, Alex previously said, “And so I went back to the flat and was like, where is he? Hours went by no one answered their phone and finally thought ok I’m going to drive back to Cardiff because I don’t know where you are, you’ve probably gone to the pub.

“And then the production company called, and they were like, we have a bit of a situation. Tomorrow morning your boyfriend is going to the Angelina Jolie premiere and it would be really funny if you got on the phone, were live on the show and surprised him and said you know exactly what he’s been up to.

“So again, I said ‘yes’, so on live television I was like, ‘You lied to me, where have you been? So yeah, it’s not surprising that we broke up on live television!”‘

Steve, 46, recently shared that he’s finally put his womanizing ways to the past following his marriage to Phylicia Jackson-Jones, with the star describing their union as his ‘greatest achievement’.

The couple met 11 years ago while Steve was in America working on The X Factor USA and Phylicia was a photographer.

Nick asked Alex about her story with Lionel Riche after she passed norovirus to him during his tour.

She said: “On the way back from the show I was feeling a little dodgy, but being the warrior that I am, I went to work the day after because I felt better…

At the end of the interview with Lionel Riche, I went to kiss him on the cheek, and he turned his head and went full lips.

“We got into a full-lipped situation and then he got norovirus and had to cancel the rest of his tour.”
