Alex de Minaur has recorded the best win of his career after beating world champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets in the United Cup.
De Minaur, 24, delivered a major shock to the defending Australian Open champions in Perth after completing a 6-4, 6-4 victory, his first victory over the world No. 1.
The Aussie was crushed by Djokovic 6-2 6-1 6-2 in the fourth round of the Australian Open last year.
But De Minaur's stunning 6-4 6-2 victory over world number 10 Taylor Fritz on Monday night gave him a huge boost of confidence, and that momentum carried over into his rematch against Djokovic.
Before the match, De Minaur said he rates Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam winner who is still world No. 1 at the age of 36, as the greatest men's player ever, surpassing Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

“Novak's level is no secret, it's unbelievable, and he's probably the GOAT if we're honest,” De Minaur said on Tuesday.
'He started the year strong. It's going to be extremely tough.
'But it will be a challenge that I am looking forward to. Hopefully I'll go out there and show what I can do.”
