This year’s festival promises a Côte d’Azur buffet of spectacle, scandal and cinema served over the next 12 days.

It unfolds against the backdrop of labor unrest. Protests that have rocked France in recent months over changes to the pension system will take place during the festival, albeit at a distance from the main festival hub.

Meanwhile, an ongoing strike by screenwriters in Hollywood could have unpredictable consequences for the festival on the French Riviera.

The premiere of Monster took place on Wednesday at the iconic film festival in the presence of celebs such as Gemma Chan and Amy Jackson.

The film’s synopsis reads, “When her young son Minato starts behaving strangely, his mother senses something is wrong. Discovering that a teacher is responsible, she storms into the school demanding to know what is going on.

But as the story unfolds through the eyes of mother, teacher, and child, the truth gradually emerges. Palme d’Or winner and internationally acclaimed director Kore-Eda Hirokazu returns with a delicate, powerfully moving story about love, duty, social conflicts and secrets.’

The largest film festival in the world will conclude with the closing ceremony on May 27.

Last year, Alessandra told Harper’s Bazaar that she “didn’t think the modeling job would last.”

But fame hasn’t changed her much: ‘In my personal life, I keep things simple. I’m a Brazilian girl, even though I live in LA now, so swimsuits and simple beachwear are my style.

“I like fashion, but I don’t have to go crazy buying items. I’m happy with what makes me comfortable.’

And she called her top style icons: “Brigitte Bardot, Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, for acting confidently and with a sense of fun. They also embraced a timeless look.’

And the leggy lady shared some style advice.

“I think the best advice would be to stay authentic,” said the athleisure-wearing star.

“You can be playful and follow your instincts. You cannot completely abandon yourself; you have to stay true to who you are, even if you’re wearing something you wouldn’t normally choose.”

And she said she wants her kids to dress the way they want.

“I want them to feel happy and comfortable in their own skin, so I would gently guide them if I felt like they were trying to be someone they’re not.” But I’m glad they’re making their own journey. It’s the only way.’
