Alejandro Garnacho was dropped online by his Man United teammate Facundo Pellistri for his performances in the online video game EA FC 24.

The global game of football is loved by supporters and players worldwide and the United duo apparently also enjoy competing against each other.

Both gave insight into their online rivalry when Pellistri responded to a social media post showcasing Garnacho’s Ultimate Team – a feature in the game where players create their own dream teams.

Garnacho’s star-studded line-up features a series of ‘icons’ and current players with ratings in the high 80s, but he himself (with a rating of 77) is also part of his team’s left wing.

The South American duo have a good relationship and are often trained closely alongside each other at United’s Carrington training complex.

However, Pellistri wanted to enjoy some light-hearted fun at his teammate’s expense as he responded to the leaked photo of Garnacho’s team, saying: ‘and he still can’t win a single match’ alongside a laughing face emoji.

Garnacho quickly responded, hilariously claiming that Pellistri was currently on a losing streak against him, adding, “Still 3-0 in games against you, stop spending money, it won’t make you any good.”

The online exchange gave United fans a rare glimpse of a real online interaction between two of the club’s most promising talents.

Both have established themselves in Ten Hag’s senior team at United, but have each struggled to get consistent minutes so far this season.

Garnacho is regarded as one of United’s best academy players. He scored five senior goals during his breakthrough year last season but flitted in and out of the team.

However, United’s struggles ahead of the ongoing international break gave Garnacho the chance to prove himself, with the 19-year-old starting both Premier League wins against Fulham and Luton.

Meanwhile, Pellistri is most often used as a right-wing substitute, but has started a number of important games this season, including a first Champions League start away against Bayern Munich.
