Alec Baldwin joins smiling Hilaria and adorable baby in PJs for evening stroll to family dinner after jury selection in manslaughter trial for fatal Rust shooting

Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria went out for a family dinner just hours after the jury was selected for the Rust actor’s manslaughter trial.

The 66-year-old actor was seen in exclusive photos obtained by DailyMail.com as he walked down the street in Santa Fe, New Mexico with Hilaria and one of their seven children, 21-month-old Ilaria.

Alec wore glasses and pushed an empty stroller while his wife walked ahead of him holding their child in her arms. They I walked around the block to eat at Pranzo, an Italian restaurant that serves pizza.

The actor removed his tie for the evening, but still wore the same gray suit he had worn in court earlier that day.

During the trial, 16 jurors convened for Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter trial, which came after the tragic shooting on the set of the film ‘Rust’ in October 2021.

While Alec kept his courtroom attire on, his wife traded in the brown pantsuit she had worn earlier in the day for a more casual look in a denim jacket, long black skirt and sandals.

The couple’s toddler wore a white sweater over her Little Mermaid pajamas and adorable bunny slippers.

The three were accompanied by another unnamed woman, possibly a caregiver, and they sat together in a separate room enjoying some family time.

Their toddler Ilaria stood unsteadily in his car seat as Alec took photos of the gathering.

A local man who ate at the restaurant told DailyMail.com that he, his wife and their friend who works in film production discussed the case during their meal, unaware that Alec Baldwin was eating with his family in a private room.

“I had no idea,” the man said in surprise, and he laughed, thinking that perhaps they had been talking about him within earshot and had upset the actor’s appetite.

“We were talking about the case and didn’t know they were there,” said the man who works in advertising. “I hope he couldn’t hear. I let them know about the case. I said – maybe you can’t hold an actor completely responsible for knowing the guns, but he was also a producer. They were the ones who hired her (Gutierrez-Reed) when she was clearly not qualified.”

Still, he was pleased to hear that Baldwin had chosen Pranzo, which he described as “one of the best Italian restaurants in the city.”

Hours earlier, the star watched as five men and 11 women were selected by Santa Fe County special prosecutors and the actor’s team of defense attorneys.

Twelve people are appointed by the court to serve as the jury and four as alternates, but only after they have heard the case.

The jurors must decide whether Alec committed a crime when his revolver was fired during rehearsals for his western film Rust at Bonanza Creek Ranch, about 18 miles from where the trial is taking place.

Alec claims he thought the gun was loaded with blanks when he pointed it at camerawoman Halyna Hutchins. The resulting shot killed her and wounded director Joel Souza.

The 30 Rock actor could face up to 18 months in prison if the jury unanimously finds him guilty. The trial is expected to last 10 days.

The start of the trial follows a complicated legal saga for the 66-year-old, who initially had his involuntary manslaughter charge dropped in April 2023. However, in January, the charges were refiled for a second time by prosecutors in New Mexico.

Baldwin pleaded not guilty and his lawyers called the case against him “an abuse of an innocent person whose rights have been violated to the utmost.”

A month after Baldwin was re-indicted, the film’s gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, 26, went on trial. She was found guilty and sentenced to 18 months in prison for loading live ammunition into the gun.

Gutierrez-Reed’s trial offers a preview of the case against Baldwin, where prosecutors are expected to accuse him of violating industry standards regarding safety on set.

This could mean not pointing a gun at anyone or putting your finger on the trigger. It is also alleged that Baldwin was negligent in his role as producer of the film.

As part of their case, prosecutors are also likely to highlight that the New Mexico safety authority fined Rust producers $136,000 for “willful and serious” safety deficiencies.

When Baldwin’s trial began this week, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer said the special circumstances of a celebrity trial should not hinder jury selection.

Judge Sommer wanted to proceed with opening statements on Wednesday, saying, “I’m not worried about being able to select a jury in one day. I think we can select a jury by noon.”

Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey doubted that Baldwin’s lawyers, with whom she had clashed in the run-up to the trial, would accomplish such a thing.

Morrissey said during the hearing: “I suspect that’s not going to happen with this group of defense attorneys.”

Defense attorney Alex Spiro responded, “I’ve never not picked a jury in one day. I can’t imagine this would be the first time.”

Despite this, jury selection in this case got off to a slow start. Questioning of potential jurors began more than two hours later due to technical problems.

When Judge Mary Marlowe Summer asked the 70 potential jurors if they were familiar with the case, all but two of the jurors raised their hands to indicate that they were.

Two others said they could not be fair and impartial and were excused. No jurors had been selected for a mid-afternoon lunch break.

During questioning by prosecutor Kari Morrissey, one potential juror said she hates guns. Many others admitted to owning guns, and few had strong opinions about guns.
