BREAKING NEWS: Alec Baldwin is indicted on manslaughter for Rust shooting: Prosecutors say videos show him with his finger on the trigger before killing Halyna Hutchins

Alec Baldwin has been officially charged with manslaughter for fatally shooting Halyna Hucthins on the set of his film Rust in October 2021.

Prosecutors in Santa Fe, New Mexico, formally filed charges today.

They announced their intention to charge Baldwin earlier this month, but delayed filing the paperwork to give them time to explain the controversial decision.

Baldwin has vowed to fight the charges. He says that he never pulled the trigger and that it was a tragic accident.

If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison. Gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was also charged.

Baldwin, pictured today, has vowed to fight the charges.

Among the documents filed Tuesday is a 10-page probable cause affidavit that claims Baldwin gave “inconsistent accounts” of how the shooting occurred, at first telling police he “discharged” the gun and then insisting he did not press the trigger.

The affidavit also states that there is surveillance footage of Baldwin on the day in question, immediately before the accident, with his hand on the trigger.

They also say he did not undergo proper gun safety training and was talking to his family on his cell phone when he was supposed to have learned how to handle the gun.

Photographic and video evidence from inside the church on the day of the shooting shows part of the trial up to and including moments before the shooting.

“Photos and videos clearly show Baldwin multiple times with his finger inside the trigger guard and on the trigger, while manipulating the hammer and drawing, aiming, and holstering the revolver.”
