Alec Baldwin’s A-lister attorney is a ‘force of nature’ and has NEVER lost a jury trial, insider warns – after actor is indicted AGAIN over Rust shooting death

The attorney helping Alec Baldwin fight a manslaughter charge in the 2021 death of Halyna Hutchins on the film set of Rust is ready to throw everything at New Mexico prosecutors, an insider said.

A favorite for celebrities facing legal troubles, Alex Spiro has been hailed as a “force of nature” and credited for his impeccable record in jury trials.

More than two years after cinematographer Halyna Hutchins died after being shot on the set of his ill-fated Western film, a grand jury announced a decision Friday to indict Baldwin for a second time.

Now a source tells DailyMail.com that Spiro will throw his support behind Baldwin, who faces 18 months in prison if convicted of the involuntary manslaughter charge.

“New Mexico prosecutors have no idea what’s coming,” said a lawyer familiar with Alex Spiro’s work. “Alex is a force of nature.”

The grand jury indictment charges Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter on the grounds of negligent use of a firearm and disregard for the safety of others.

The Miami-based attorney is known for working with high-profile names. His client list includes Jay-Z, Naomi Osaka, Elon Musk and Megan Thee Stallion, as well as NBA basketball stars and famous athletes.

Although he also takes on lesser-known cases, the Harvard law graduate has built a reputation for getting the job done after starting his career as an assistant district attorney in the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.

“My instinct is often to rally behind people who are being attacked,” Spiro previously told Vanity Fair.

The suit was filed Friday and accuses Baldwin of careless use of a firearm and disregard for the safety of others.

Previous charges filed by New Mexico prosecutors were dismissed last April.

In a statement, Spiro and fellow council member Luke Nikas said, “We look forward to our day in court.”

Gloria Allred, the attorney for Halyna’s parents and sister, said in a statement: “Our clients have always sought the truth about what happened on the day Halyna Hutchins was tragically shot and killed on October 21, 2021.

“They continue to seek the truth for them in our civil lawsuit and also want accountability in the criminal justice system.

“The grand jury has determined there is sufficient evidence to indict Alec Baldwin on a charge of involuntary manslaughter.

“We look forward to the criminal trial that will determine whether he should be convicted for Halyna’s untimely death.”

Baldwin has always maintained that he complied with gun safety laws, and that the fault lies with the gunmaker or the crew who handed him a gun loaded with a live round.

He insists he confirmed the gun was “cold” when he took it to rehearse the scene in question.

“We did this for two weeks and we did it the right way every day. Just before you start shooting. I went to lunch.

“She disarmed me, Hannah, she always wielded the gun. I come back, they give me the revolver, Hannah, they arm me. You assume it’s a cold gun. I put the prop in the bulkhead.

‘I’ll get the gun out as soon as it gets clear. I turn around, cock the gun and the gun goes off. It should be a cold weapon. Bang, she (Hutchins) hits the ground. (Joel Souza) goes down and shouts, “Jesus Christ!”

“I’ve never seen this before… What came out of that bullet that went through her shoulder?… She was right in front of me,” he said.

Baldwin was sued in 2022 by Halyna’s widower, Matthew, but settled the lawsuit for an undisclosed amount.

He also named Matthew executive producer of the film, which will resume production in Los Angeles.

Shortly afterwards, Matthew released a statement saying: ‘There are no words to convey my shock and sadness at the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hucthins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.

‘I am cooperating fully with the police investigation to find out how his tragedy happened.’

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, it emerged that production was plagued by staff complaints.

Days before the incident, several crew members even walked off the set.

Their complaints include concerns about Dave Halls, the assistant director, who has been accused in the past of shooting unsafe sets.

Some said they were forced to sleep in their cars next to the set because hotel rooms next to the set were too expensive. Instead, their rooms were booked in Santa Fe, a 30-minute drive from Bonanza Creek Ranch, the location of the set.

They also complained about long working hours and claimed they did not receive their wages on time.

Almost immediately, attention turned to the gunsmith, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, a 24-year-old whose father was well-known in the industry and had little experience in the role.

Her record soon came to the fore, with former colleagues rushing to talk about how “careless” she was on previous sets, how she was “waving guns around” and had even handed one to a child actress.

She hired a group of lawyers who immediately began firing off statements to fight the claims.
