  • Neighbors rescued pets without realizing she was also inside
  • Lived there with ex-wife, their children and boyfriend

A woman who tragically died in a horror house fire has been named the mother of two as harrowing new details emerge.

Firefighters were called to a home in Aldinga Beach, south of Adelaide, on Friday after neighbors noticed black smoke billowing through the house.

Krystal Marshall, 38, was unable to escape as firefighters found her body in her bedroom after the fire was extinguished.

She lived there with her ex-wife Anastasia and their two children, along with a friend.

Two dogs and a cat were rescued from the burning house by neighbors, who were unaware Mrs Marshall was also inside.

Her ex-partner was inconsolable when she returned to the destroyed home on Saturday to salvage whatever belongings she could.

‘The children were at school. “I went to pick up my youngest from school and saw smoke coming from the house as I walked down the street,” Ms Marshall told reporters.

‘We weren’t together for a few years, but we never divorced. We were together for eleven years.’

Neighbor Jason Freer was home at the time when he heard an unusual crackling sound.

‘I thought it was raining at first, so I walked outside and saw all this smoke. There was fire coming from the neighbour’s roof,” Mr Freer said.

‘I didn’t know she was in there. It’s not fun living next to someone who has passed away.’

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined but is not considered suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.”
