Aldi Australia sends American customers into a spin with new snack range: ‘Run, don’t walk’
Customers are rushing to Aldi Australia to stock up on American chocolate, lollipops, snacks and sauces.
The German supermarket chain launched the range last week in stores in the ‘Special Buys’ middle aisle.
Maraya, who runs the website ‘Stuff Mums Like’, came across the snacks and posted some photos on Facebook.
‘It’s American food week at Aldi! So many fun treats to try. It would be so much fun to host an American treat night with your kids so they can try things they’ve only seen in books and on TV,’ she wrote.
“I bought some Hershey’s kisses to use on the elves (now that’s thinking ahead).”
Customers can purchase Reese’s, Twinkies, Pop Tarts, Jelly Belly lollipops, Twizzlers, Butterfinger chocolate, Baby Ruth chocolate, Hershey’s Cookies n Creme chocolate and pretzels, Junior Caramels, Milk Duds and a Smores kit.
A variety of sauces are also available, including Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory & Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce, Jack Link’s Beef Jerky, Stubb’s Smokey Mesquite BBQ Sauce, French’s Classic Yellow Mustard, and Frank’s Red Hot Wings Buffalo Sauce.
Many were excited about the latest offering and were eager to head to their local Aldi to pick up the treats.

Maraya, who runs the website ‘Stuff Mums Like’, came across the snacks and posted a series of images on Facebook. While many were excited, others didn’t see what all the hype was about
“I have to go to Aldi tomorrow,” someone wrote.
“I need to get some Twinkies. They were always advertised in comics when I was little and I’ve always wanted to try one,” said another.
“Thanks for posting! This will quickly fulfill my youngest son’s request for s’mores for camping next week,” added a third.
However, others were less enthusiastic because they are not fans of American snacks.
“Oh Lord, that Hershey chocolate is so disgusting, not even edible to be honest. Haigh’s is the winner,” said one.
There were also Oreos and Twinkies in the middle aisle ‘Special Buys’
Customers could also get their hands on American sauces and Thins. But supplies are limited
‘Hershey’s chocolate is a total disappointment for Brits – honestly tastes like cheap cooking chocolate used for baking. Was so impressed when I first tried it in NYC,’ wrote another.
A third said: ‘I wouldn’t buy American lollipops for kids, the junk and colourings in them are very bad for you.’
Another claimed that The Reject Shop sells American snacks year-round.
Aldi launched a range of British snacks last month that shocked consumers.
Natalia from Sydney recently came across the products in a store and couldn’t believe it.
“I’m actually going to cry,” she said in a video as she held up a packet of Smith’s Prawn Cocktail crisps, a sub-brand of Walkers.
‘My parents are in England at the moment and they brought a few parcels. Now I have more and I am very happy about that.’
Natalia also loved the cheese and pickles, and the Worcestershire sauce flavoured crisps. Customers can also get their hands on bags of Galaxy Minstrels and Little Rolo chocolate.
