Why shoppers are all talking about this upcoming ‘mega bargain’ from Aldi Australia’s Special Buys: ‘Obsessed’

Aldi Australia will release a 40-inch TV for $299 as part of its popular ‘Special Buys’.

The product comes with WebOS Hub pre-installed to stream Netflix, Stan, Disney+ and more. Bauhn’s smart televisions are always a hit among bargain hunters due to their affordable price and sleek design compared to high-end brands.

However, experts have warned that the technology is ‘mediocre’. Australian consumer company CHOICE have reviewed Aldi televisions over the years and say there is ‘lots of room for improvement’.

CHOICE technical expert Denis Gallagher said in January: ‘So far we haven’t really seen a Bauhn TV that performs well.

“Of course that may change with new models – we’ve seen that with other brands – but despite the undeniably low price, consumers should be cautious when considering these bargain models based on what we’ve seen.”

Aldi’s smart television is always a hit among shoppers due to its low $299 price tag and sleek design, but reviews are mixed

Other televisions Aldi has previously sold include the $699 65-inch, $599 58-inch and 55-inch 4K ultra HD Bauhn TV for $479.

Despite the rough assessment by experts, customers shared their own mixed reviews on Facebook.

‘It’s basically a Samsung TV for a third of the price. Super easy to use and the remote is so simple you don’t have to click much to find apps,” the mother wrote, sharing an image.

But someone else was disappointed when the TV broke ‘randomly’.

“I had a really good TV from Aldi for years,” said one mother, while another added: “Terrible. I wouldn’t buy it as a main TV, but it would be fine for a guest room or children’s room (but not for gaming).’

‘We have had ours for a few years now (65 inches) and are very happy with it and the price. I just added a cheap soundbar to it,” someone else wrote.

“It’s great, we’ve had two, the first one lasted ten years,” added another.

At such a low price, it’s tempting to snap up the deal and those interested should act quickly once they launch as stock quantities are limited.

The latest ‘Special Buys’ catalog caught the attention of shoppers on Facebook after a woman shared images of the products.
