Aldi Australia makes big call on launch of online shopping: ‘Won’t compromise’

Aldi Australia has once again quashed rumours of plans to offer online shopping.

Customers have been wondering for years whether the discount supermarket will launch this service to compete with other retailers.

But an Aldi Australia spokesperson told FEMAIL the company is prioritising other services for the time being.

“We are always looking for the best ways to serve our customers, but right now our focus is on delivering value and the lowest possible prices at a time when our customers need it most,” the spokesperson said.

“We will not jeopardize our ability to deliver cheap groceries to Australians.”

For the time being, customers can still keep up to date with Aldi’s ‘Special Buys’ and offers via the website, but an online delivery service is not yet available.

Earlier this year, Aldi began offering a new service to Australian customers amid the cost of living crisis. And it has nothing to do with the supermarket.

The supermarket giant launched Aldi Insurance, an insurance company offering home contents, comprehensive motor and rental insurance.

Customers can request a quote for a policy within three minutes, without having to deal with complicated terms.

Many Australians share how they save money, with many saying they have saved thousands of dollars by switching insurance policies and seeking cheaper rates.

“Buy all your bills, utilities, insurance, internet, phone, etc. I just got a quote for my car insurance for $650, which is half of what I pay now,” one big saver said recently.

Aldi Insurance claims that prices will be competitive for both new and existing policyholders.

Those who opt for the Home and Contents Insurance will also receive smart sensors. These should reduce the premium and make the home safer.
