Shoppers are rushing to Aldi Australia to grab $8 ‘dupe’ of M&S Percy Pig lollies

Aldi Australia customers are going crazy for a new $8 snack that’s said to taste exactly like a beloved British treat.

The supermarket giant caused a stir among foodies with the launch of Katja Biggetjes lollipops for $7.99.

The product was launched as part of Dutch Week’s ‘Special Buys’ and hundreds of shoppers compared the purchase to the popular Marks & Spencer Percy Pig – a pig-shaped gummy that comes in raspberry, strawberry, cherry and grape flavours.

Images shared on Facebook alerted others to the limited edition product now on shelves.

“Just like the M&S Percy Pigs,” someone wrote.

“These are my favorites. I always buy multiple bags and then get sad when I eat them all like the pig I am and wish I had more,” said another.

“I love them! Last year I bought about six packs to last me the whole year,” added a third.

Someone else wrote: ‘These look like the Percy pigs you gave us from the UK!’

An Aldi spokesperson told FEMAIL: ‘We are always pleased when customers are enthusiastic about one of our Special Buys products.

‘For those who don’t know, Katja Biggetjes are soft Dutch lollipops made from real fruit juice, natural colourings and are vegan and gluten-free, making them the perfect treat.

These delicious little piggies in strawberry, raspberry and cherry flavours are now available as part of the Dutch Delights Special Buys range for $7.99.

“But they won’t be around for long, so grab them before all the little pigs are taken away.”

Last month, customers flocked to Aldi to stock up on American chocolate, lollipops, snacks and sauces.

Maraya, who runs the website ‘Stuff Mums Like’, came across the snacks and posted some photos on Facebook.

‘It’s American food week at Aldi! So many fun treats to try. It would be so much fun to host an American treat night with your kids so they can try things they’ve only seen in books and on TV,’ she wrote.

“I bought some Hershey’s kisses to use on the elves (now that’s thinking ahead).”

Customers can purchase Reese’s, Twinkies, Pop Tarts, Jelly Belly lollipops, Twizzlers, Butterfinger chocolate, Baby Ruth chocolate, Hershey’s Cookies n Creme chocolate and pretzels, Junior Caramels, Milk Duds and a Smores kit.
