Boy, 13, dies in horrific ‘high speed’ crash after colliding with wooden fence while riding his e-bike

A teenager has died after crashing into a wooden fence with his e-bike at high speed.

It is understood the The 13-year-old boy was on his way to the shops when he crashed into a wooden barrier at about 6:40 pm on Friday.

The impact knocked him unconscious and he went into cardiac arrest.

Police and ambulance arrived within minutes Di Gorman Oval in Albion Park, in the Illawarra region of NSW, and attempted to resuscitate the teen using CPR.

The 13-year-old suffered chest and possible neck injuries in the crash Illawarra Mercury reported.

NSW Ambulance Illawarra Superintendent Terry Morrow said it was a ‘total effort’ to try and save his life.

“He was taken from Albion Park to Wollongong Hospital with full CPR and unfortunately he had injuries that were not compatible with life,” he said.

An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding his death.
