Alanis Morissette is every bit the proud mom as she performs classic hit Ironic with daughter for her eighth birthday in Nashville

Alanis Morissette gave her daughter Onyx an unforgettable eighth birthday.

During her Triple Moon Tour, the mother of three took a break from her concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena to celebrate her daughter’s special day and sing her classic hit Ironic together.

With the help of her husband Mario Treadway, Onyx was helped onto the stage and promptly fell into her mother’s open arms.

The Jagged Little Pill superstar was the first to perform Happy Birthday, with many of the 20,000 fans singing along to their rock ‘n’ roll hero.

From that point on, the band hit the opening notes of Ironic and Onyx started singing the opening verse, while getting a little encouragement from her mother.

Alanis Morissette, 50, made her daughter Onyx’s eighth birthday extra special by singing her classic hit Ironic together during her concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena

“An old man lived to be 98 / He won the lottery and died the next day,” a glowing Onyx sang, before her mother reminded her of the lyrics.

‘It’s a black fly in your Chardonnay / It’s a death sentence, two minutes too late / And isn’t it ironic? Don’t you think?’

The mother-daughter duo then sang the chorus together, again inspiring many of the audience to sing along.

“It’s like rain on your wedding day / It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid / It’s the good advice you just didn’t take / And who would’ve thought? It’s true,” the two sang with clear emotion in their voices.

The You Oughta Know singer-songwriter opted for the classic rock star look in black leather pants with a matching tank top and a shiny blue shirt that she left open.

Hailing from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, her dark brown locks still fell well past her shoulders, with extra volume, lots of natural waves and a center parting.

Onyx was just as cool as her mom by wearing leopard print pants, paired with a pink T-shirt and matching sneakers.
