Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson took to social media on Sunday to remember her late sister Anna “Chickadee” Cardwell.
The 29-year-old reality TV personality passed away on Saturday evening after a months-long battle with adrenal cancer.
Thompson shared with her 1.1 million followers: “This is a post I wish I didn't have to make.”
The 18-year-old star shared a family portrait along with a heartbreaking caption as she mourned the new loss.
“Last night we all surrounded Anna with love and let her know it was okay to go. Sadly, Anna breathed her last around 11pm,” she said.

Cardwell (R) died Saturday night, according to her mother, Mama June Shannon. She had been battling stage 4 adrenal cancer for months

The note continued: 'Anna was in so much pain last night, but now we all know as a family that she is now at peace. I really don't know what to say because my heart is completely broken.'
The student said: 'It was not easy watching my 29-year-old sister battle this terrible disease last year. Anna was a fighter and still is. Lord, please wrap your arms around her two babies and our family as this will all become a reality in the coming days.”
She went on to say that her bigger sister waited until she got home to transition.
“I'm so glad you waited until I got home to take your last breaths!” I would have loved for you to see me graduate, but I know you will cheer me on forever in heaven!” she said in the caption.
“We will all ensure that your legacy lives on forever. And I promise to always make sure we celebrate our anniversary as if you never left! The sky looks a little different today. We will always love you Anna,” a heartbroken Honey Boo Boo added.
And finally she said, “You hit me hard with his, Anna, but I know (you're) in a better place now and pain free forever!”
Fans expressed their condolences in the comments section of the solemn post.
Jessica “Chubbs” Shannon, 27, also used her social media platform to mourn her sister.

Mama June was the first to announce the devastating news when she shared the same family portrait as Honey Boo Boo
“Everyone, it hurts so say this but we lost @annamarie35 last night!
'It's hard to imagine that my sister is no longer here, she was so young and had a bright future ahead of her here. She will always be with us and we already love and miss her!!” she wrote to 342,000 followers.
She asked, “You all keep our family and those two sweet (babies) of hers in your prayers!!
“Anna, I love you and know we have Katilyn and Kylee for you, they will be cared for,” she said in tribute to her sister.
The girls' aunt, Jo Shannon, also acknowledged the family's loss with a message about her niece.
'It is with heavy hearts that we as a family must announce the passing of @annamarie35 Anna Marie Cardwell.
“She passed away last night with family around her and she had a loving, peaceful transition. Heaven gained an angel and she was (greeted) by all her loved ones who preceded her.'
“Please keep her husband, children and the rest of the family in your prayers as we navigate the days ahead. She loved the fans and all the love you showed during this difficult process,” she finished before adding, “#CANCERSUCKS.”
Cardwell is survived by two young daughters; Kaitlyn, born in 2012, and Kylee, born in 2015
Cardwell had previously revealed that she was battling adrenal cancer which progressed to stage 4.
Mama June, 44, was the first to announce her daughter's death in an Instagram post on Sunday.
Two days before her somber announcement, the reality star had asked her fans on social media to pray for her sick daughter.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce that @annamarie35 is no longer with us,” June began her post. “She passed away peacefully in my home last night at 11:12 p.m.”
