Remedy Entertainment has confirmed this Alan Wake2 will receive a New Game Plus mode after launch with a “new alternative story”.
The highly anticipated sequel to the 2010 action-adventure horror game launches tomorrow, October 27, and in case fans are worried, Remedy has said that players can expect a New Game Plus mode in a future update.
The developer has not yet specified the release date for the update, but did say so on a recent Twitter after it will arrive “after launch.” Remedy explained that the “exact timing of the release is TBA.” However, it did offer some details on what fans can expect in New Game Plus after they complete their first playthrough.
Remedy revealed that the mode, like other games, will allow you to keep all unlocked weapons and upgrades so you don’t have to go through the trouble of collecting them again. There will also be a new difficulty setting called Nightmare, which we assume will be the hardest and scariest mode to play in.
Perhaps the most notable feature of New Game Plus is the ‘new alternate story’, which will include new manuscript pages and new video content. It’s unclear at this point if this new story will make any significant changes to the main story we’ll get at launch, so we’ll have to wait and see.
Alan Wake2 coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Epic Games Store. The game was initially scheduled to release on October 17, but was delayed by 10 days due to clashes with other games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which was released on October 20.
