Alan Shearer gave a glowing review of Cole Palmer’s performance against Manchester City on Sunday, labeling the Chelsea striker ‘fantastic and magnificent’ after scoring an injury-time penalty.
Palmer’s late goal earned a deserved point for the Blues in a thrilling 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, with the youngster holding his nerve late in the match to score the final goal of the match.
The former Manchester City star moved to Chelsea in a £42.5million summer transfer after deciding to leave the Etihad in search of more regular first-team opportunities.
Since then, he has shone in his new surroundings, scoring four Premier League goals and providing two assists in just nine top-flight appearances for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Shearer, the Newcastle and England legend, marveled at Palmer’s performance against City and described the Chelsea winger as ‘magnificent’ after producing a man of the match performance.

“Very impressive performance from Chelsea, Reece James was fantastic, Conor Gallagher, Raheem Sterling was incredible but 21-year-old Palmer was absolutely sensational,” Shearer said on BBC Match of the Day 2.
“One of the impressive things about him is that he always tries to go from the front to the front. His first thought is: can he do that, can he run forward?
‘It was nothing short of fantastic when he had the ball. Offering himself when he is under pressure, then driving forward and putting Chelsea in very good positions.
“He’s 21 and has been there for five minutes and is a regular and key player in that team, he looks so confident.

‘When all this happens with the penalty, he is the calmest man in the stadium. For him there is no pressure at all. he was fantastic and magnificent.
‘It was a good deal for both parties, City and himself, there was no way he was going to become a regular at City. They got good money for him,” he added.
The Manchester-born rising star has done well in his short career at Chelsea but has become a mainstay in a team littered with huge cash signings.
Palmer is currently Pochettino’s preferred right winger and is tasked with running a three-pronged attack alongside Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling.
