Alan described himself as “looking for a relationship for now” but confessed that the dating game feels very strange, saying “I mean how do I even meet people?”

When asked what he’s looking for, he admitted, “probably companionship, which makes me sound so old.” I mean, I spend all my time either alone on stage, or just sitting on a chair interviewing people one-on-one. So it’s just fun to share because I’m having the most amazing experiences.’

The Chatty Man insisted he doesn’t want to date a celebrity, explaining, “I need someone who is celebrity-adjacent, who knows the business and understands the long hours and I might be gone.”

While his ex-husband Paul openly shares updates on his recovery from alcohol addiction, Alan revealed that “there have been times” when he questioned his own drinking.

He recalled one time in Palm Springs when he drunkenly assaulted his ex and ransacked their hotel room, only to wake up with no memory of it.

Alan also spoke of a police statement at 4am which he cannot remember signing for a McDonald’s in Liverpool after his leg was shattered by a gang from his tour manager Elliot.

Another time, the comic woke up after 3am locked in a London TV studio after accosting Harrison Ford, who was in the hallway on his way to the Jonathan Ross show.

Alan and his former husband Paul announced their split with a joint statement in January 2022, which read: ‘After 13 years as a couple and three years of marriage, Alan Carr and Paul Drayton are pleased to announce that they are separating.

“They have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to separate and go their separate ways. We ask that their privacy be respected at this sensitive time.”

Paul then posted on Instagram that he is currently in rehab for alcoholism, after a “challenging couple of years” where he pleaded guilty to a drunk driving charge in November 2021.
