Al Pacino reveals terrifying details about his near-death experience – and what he saw after his pulse stopped
Al Pacino revealed terrifying details about his near-death experience while suffering from COVID-19, with the famous actor’s heartbeat stopping and paramedics desperately trying to revive him.
Pacino, 84, recalled The New York Times Magazine how he was “sitting there in my house and I was gone” after falling unconscious while battling COVID-19 at an unknown time.
“I had no pulse,” he told the magazine. ‘Within a few minutes they were there: the ambulance in front of my house. I had about six paramedics in that living room, and there were two doctors, and they had clothes on that looked like they came from outer space or something.”
The Godfather actor had one of his staff get him a nurse after he started feeling “unusually unwell,” running a fever and dehydrating when he suddenly lost consciousness.
“I didn’t see the white light or anything. There is nothing there,” he said. ‘I had never thought about it in my life. But you know actors: it sounds good to say I died once. What is it when there is nothing left?’

Despite the scary experience, the older actor is happy with his children as ‘comfort’ and his extensive body of work to keep his legacy going.
However, the 84-year-old does not seem to be afraid of death, because he has “gained a different view of death as you get older.” Just brush it off as ‘it is just the way it is’.
‘I didn’t ask for it. It just happens, like a lot of things just happen,” he told the magazine, before saying he doesn’t find discussing death “morbid.”
As for which movie he thinks his youngest child, born in June 2023, should watch first? Jack and Jill with Adam Sandler because it’s “funny.”
“It came at a time in my life where I needed it because it was after I found out I had no money left. My accountant was in jail and I needed something fast. So I took this,” he said.
Pacino’s former financial advisor, Kenneth Starr, admitted in 2010 that he took $33 million from his clients to fund his lifestyle. His fraud left the actor owing $188,000 in back taxes to the IRS.
Starr was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for this ordeal.
The Oscar winner has had an extensive career, with award-winning films such as Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather to his name, but the actor admits he had more fun when he was younger.
“When I make movies, I’m usually not very happy,” he told NYT Magazine. “They can be annoying, but you can go to your RV and do whatever you want.”

“There’s so much stuff on YouTube,” he said. “I even like TikTok when I see it.”
He especially enjoys watching videos about rescue dogs and recently saw a video about a deaf girl who regained her hearing.
“I love that stuff!” he told the magazine.
As for his next role, the actor is gearing up to play Shakespeare’s King Lear. He was spotted in Los Angeles last month in royal attire.
He also recently helped celebrate his 30-year-old girlfriend Noor Alfallah’s birthday at a star-studded bash.
In an Instagram video of Noor’s 30th celebration shared on Thursday, the couple – who welcomed their son Roman in 2023 – looked defeated as the Oscar-winning actor helped her blow out the candles on her cake.
Pacino has four children, while his other three children are adults.
He shares daughter Julie Marie with ex Jan Tarrant, and twins Anton and Olivia with ex Beverly D’Angelo.
