Beverly D’Angelo talked about her long-term relationship with Pacino in a Instagram message in May.
The 71-year-old actress said she decided to share details about her relationship with Pacino after her “dm box was full of questions” on the subject.
“My story with Al began 27 years ago, when two artists met and fell in love,” D’Angelo said.
The actress, who played Ellen Griswold in the National Lampoon’s Vacation franchise, said they “lived together for seven years, had two kids,” and eventually “divorced.”
Despite their divorce, she wrote, they “steadily continued on (their) journey as co-parents – sharing (their) lives with a deeper kind of intimacy, honesty and acceptance than a ‘traditional’ relationship would have allowed.”
D’Angelo said she and Pacino bonded over their mutual passion for their craft.
“We’ve always been connected creatively – our conversations about acting, the quest/need for expression – that’s a conversation that started in ’96 and continues to this day,” she said.
D’Angelo, who appeared on the CBS series True Lies, called her relationship with the Dog Day Afternoon actor “unique” and “encompasses a wide range of experiences and emotions, through thick and thin, a true friendship.”

She added: “There are infinite layers to any intimate relationship – and for me Instagram isn’t the place to really go into detail… but I want to make sure you know I see and hear you, so this video is a little bare bones primer in answer to your questions.’
She added that she mostly got her kids’ approval before posting their images and story on social media.
D’Angelo opened up about her start with the House of Gucci actor in the clip, saying, “I lived with Al for seven years and we have two kids; in 1996 we were on the same plane from Los Angeles to New York.
“He sat in front of me, he said come up and sit next to me and by the time the plane landed it was gone.”
She said the following year, “He looked me in the eye and said, ‘I want you to be the mother of my children.’
She continued, “Even though I’d avoided that role all my life, I was deeply in love and was 100 percent into it.”
She said they completed a round of in vitro fertilization in 1997, and “with great effort and the wonders of modern science” they welcomed their twins in 2001.
D’Angelo shared a slideshow of family photos of the twins in their younger years.

She said things eventually “got complicated” and their “split was finalized in 2004.”
She added: “The strength of our love for our children was the foundation for resolving any conflicts and creating a new history as co-parents, living individual lives but always intertwined as a family. ‘
She concluded by saying that she and the Any Give Sunday star “continue to share a unique and profound friendship between two artists that endures to this day – through thick and thin, 27 years now that we’re doing it our way – and there you have it. .’
