Al Pacino admits he doesn’t play video games much while delivering an adorable speech

The crowd at the Microsoft Theater for The Game Awards got quite the surprise when Oscar-winning actor Al Pacino took the stage to present.

Presenter Geoff Keighley announced that the 82-year-old actor would present the top prize, Best Performance, which seemed to surprise some in the crowd, including Best Performance nominee Manon Gage (Immortality).

The Scarface star, who was busy filming Billy Knight in Los Angeles in October, was all smiles, taking the stage in a black suit with no tie and a black scarf, as he told the crowd: ‘Wow! Thank you!’

“This is…an experience for me, one I didn’t expect, but here I am,” Pacino began with a smile.

“It might surprise you, but…I…it’s hard for me to see the teleprompter,” Pacino added with a smile.

“But anyway, really, I don’t play a lot of video games, but I do… I’ve spent a lot of time watching my kids play them though,” he added, referring to 33 years. his daughter Julia and twins Anton and Olivia, 21 years old.

“And especially, naturally, by the artists, who help tell these stories, because, as an actor, I’ve learned that whether you’re on stage, in front of the camera, or inside a sound booth, always, fundamentally always, we are the same,’ he said.

“We are all trying to tell a story, in our own way, with our kind of truth. I am honored to be here tonight to celebrate the achievements of these incredibly talented actors who, by bringing these stories to life, have helped elevate the medium of gaming to a new height,” Pacino said to applause.

He then presented the Best Performance Award to Christopher Judge for God of War Ragnarok.

Judge defeated Ashly Burch (Horizon Forbidden West), Charlotte McBurney (A Plague Tale: Requiem), Manon Gage (Immortality) and Sunny Suljic (God of War Ragnarok).

Pacino returns as Meyer Offerman in the second and final season of Amazon’s Hunters, which debuts January 13.
