Al Michaels has come under the attention of Taylor Swift fans on social media following his comments about the NFL’s Thursday Night Football broadcast.
Michaels, who appeared on Amazon coverage, seemingly suggested that Swift was only popular among teenage girls following an announcement about the singer’s new album.
“You have four sons, if you had a daughter she would be over the moon,” Michael said to Kirk Herbstreit in the cab.
“I have a granddaughter and she’s over the moon now…no one is more popular among the teenage girl group than Taylor Swift.”
Michael’s comments came after an ad aired for Swift’s new album Midnights, which was released at midnight.

Fans weren’t the only ones angry at Michaels’ comments, as Pro Football Talk’s Michael Smith also chimed in.
“The NFL wants to do business with Taylor Swift, in part because it appeals to a demographic that the NFL would like to reach more, but Al Michaels’ assumption that Kirk Herbstreit’s kids don’t like Taylor Swift because he has sons was kind of silly.” Smith tweeted.
Fan reaction seemed to be headed in the same direction as one fan who tweeted: “Hearing Al Michaels insinuating guys can’t be excited for the new Taylor Swift and shaking my head all the time to show I don’t agree with it.” am .’
Another Tweet read: “All due respect to Al Michaels, but guys can be Taylor Swift fans too.”
Another added: ‘I’m safe enough in my manhood to admit I’m PUMPED for Taylor Swift’s new album. I’m going to repeat Midnights.’
