Former Georgia Bulldogs football player Akeem Hebron has passed away suddenly at the age of 34.

The team announced the tragic news on Sunday evening. The cause of death is unknown.

“Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of a beloved member of the Bulldog family, Akeem Hebron,” the statement read on Twitter.

His dedication to Georgia Football will always be remembered. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones at this difficult time.”

Fans and even a few retired Georgia players paid their respects to Hebron, who was a linebacker, following his unexpected death over the weekend, confirmed by the Bulldogs. DailyMail.com has contacted The University of Georgia for comment.

The Bulldogs announced Hebron’s death on Twitter and dedicated a post to their ex-linebacker

Rennie Curan, who played in the NFL with the Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers after three years of success with Georgia, where he was named a First-Team All-American by CBS and First Team All-SEC in 2009, tweeted a heartfelt message dedicated to his former teammate.

“Incredibly honored to be inducted into the Georgia High School Football Hall of Fame!” shared the 2010 NFL draft pick. “The news was bittersweet when I learned that my brother and former teammate Akeem Hebron passed away unexpectedly.

“This is dedicated to you and many others who have been a blessing to my life.”

Among the fans, one person wrote under Georgia’s post mourning Hebron’s death, “So sad to be taken at such a young age. Condolences to his family. RIP, he will not be forgotten by the Dawg Nation.”

Another Bulldogs supporter tweeted, “A Damn Good Dawg RIP” along with red and black heart emojis.

‘This is terrible. So sad to hear that Akeems passed away,” another fan shared. May God give comfort and peace to his family, friends and former teammates. God holds them tight and eases their pain.’

“We are so sad to hear about Akeem!” wrote a college football fan, who may have known Hebron, adding, “He was a wonderful young man! thoughts and prayers for his family.

Another Bulldogs fan posted: ‘So young and so tragic. Such a damn good Dawg, taken away way too soon. You will be missed, Akeem! GO DAWGS.”
