A’ja Wilson named 2024 WNBA MVP… as Las Vegas Aces superstar becomes only the second player ever to win unanimously

Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has been named the WNBA’s Most Valuable Player for the 2024 season.

The 28-year-old striker wins the award for the third time, after being crowned the league’s MVP in 2020 and 2022.

After Wilson voted unanimously, he became the second player to receive the votes, along with Cynthia Cooper-Dyke.

Wilson also joins an elite team that includes Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie and Lauren Jackson, the only players to have won three MVP awards — the most in the league’s young history.

Her performance also moved the Aces franchise into fourth place among teams with the most MVP wins. The Los Angeles Sparks lead the pack, followed by the Houston Comets and Seattle Storm, with six, five and four MVPs, respectively.

The reigning Finals MVP is coming off a historic season as she leads the Aces in their three-way chase. Wilson posted season-highs in points, rebounds and shots.

In yet another dominant year, the South Carolina product led the league with 1,021 points, 451 rebounds and 98 blocks.

Additionally, Wilson broke the record for points per game in her MVP season, scoring 26.9, breaking Diana Taurasi’s record of 25.3, which had stood since 2006.
