This is the moment a plane taking part in an air show crashed and caught fire on Sunday, killing two people and injuring four on the ground.

The small propeller plane was flying at the Börgönd air show in Fejér province near Budapest in Hungary when it crashed around 3:20 pm local time.

The pilot and passenger, aged 67 and 37, both died, while three people in a car near the impact site suffered serious burns and were hospitalized, police said.

It is understood that a small boy on the ground was also injured.

Online video footage of the crash shows a small plane – a US Army T-28 Trojan built in 1951 – performing a rotational motion as it took off and descended, but ultimately crashed and burst into flames.

The small propeller plane was flying at the Börgönd air show in Fejér county near Budapest in Hungary when it crashed around 3:20 p.m. local time.

Video footage of the crash online shows a small plane – a US Army T-28 Trojan built in 1951 – performing a rotational motion as it took off and descended, but it eventually crashed and burst into flames.

The terrifying clip shows the moment the plane hit the ground in front of a shocked audience, before a fireball and thick black smoke burst into the sky.

“The small plane crashed near a parked car and caught fire,” police said.

Event organizers have reportedly canceled the rest of Sunday’s show.

“The crowd of several thousand people at the location began to leave the location in an organized manner,” the police statement said.

András Cser-Palkovics, the mayor of nearby Szekesfehervar, wrote on Facebook after the accident that what was normally a “day loved by thousands turned into a tragedy.”

“What happened today is a pain that is difficult to put into words for our community, our entire city and for me personally,” he said.

The cause of the crash was not immediately known and the identities of the dead and injured have not been released to the public.
