A woman has a ‘new favorite campfire story’ after a failed Airbnb vacation in Utah.
A TikTok user named Emily posted in a video that a “creepy” message her friend saw on their Airbnb prompted them to flee the property and stay at a hotel.
The message, which appeared on the refrigerator in Scrabble letters, read: “GO AWAY.”
“I packed my bags right away,” Emily said in the clip.
The Rhode Island woman is one of many Airbnb users who have shared their horrific experiences with a rental property.

Emily said in the August 23 clip that the “vibe wasn’t good” when she and her friends arrived at the rental house in Salt Lake City.
When they put down their bags, they noticed that it was a bit dirty and smelled like cat urine.
Things got worse when Emily realized that there were groundskeepers in a ‘basement room‘ of the house.
They then went back to the property’s Airbnb listing and found reviews from two women who felt “a little strange” when they stayed at the house.
Emily explained that she and her group were getting ready for dinner when the TikTokker’s friend admitted that she felt like someone was listening to them.
Another friend insisted that there was nothing unusual and that the strange feelings were imagined.
When they got home and heard a dull thud under the floorboards, the women decided it was best to just go to bed, she said.
The guests found a note saying ‘GO AWAY’ on a refrigerator
The guests discovered that gardeners lived in a ‘cellar’ of the house.
Emily said she was already in her pajamas when her friend discovered the “GO AWAY” note on the kitchen refrigerator.
By then, they were all so scared that they decided to leave, the TikTokker explained.
No one called the police, she said, and Emily wrote in the comments on her post that they were “too scared” to contact the property’s owners.
“I start calling hotels and thinking, ‘Where is the closest hotel that I can afford without having to think about it hours in advance in the middle of the night?’” Emily said.
The tenant and her friends saw a sign that said “Get Out Gym,” she said, and it made her never want to move to Salt Lake City again.
The traveler said she contacted Airbnb and the company launched an investigation into the situation while she was paying for a hotel room.

TikTok users reacted with shock and several people speculated about the rental.
“The smell of cat pee could indicate a meth lab (because of the ammonia). My theory is the people downstairs were cooking meth and didn’t want you around,” one commenter wrote.
Emily replied and said that one of her friends also thought it was ammonia.
“I think the owners had bad intentions, whatever they may have been,” added another commenter.
“If they were living in the basement, that would have been enough for me to leave.”
