Air steward reveals why passengers should ‘never wear shorts’ on a plane

Wearing your most comfortable clothes on the plane can feel like a necessity.

It may seem like a good idea to wear your sweatpants and an oversized hoodie, but a flight attendant has warned vacationers that there’s one piece of clothing you should never wear on a flight.

According to cabin crew member Tommy Cimato, @tommycimato on TikTok, putting on shorts or even a skirt is a really bad idea.

And while it may seem like the perfect outfit for embracing the warmer weather once you land, not many travelers will consider the other side of it.

In a video that has gone viral on the social media site and has been viewed more than 650,000 times, the flight attendant explains why.

Putting on shorts before boarding guarantees that you come into contact with the bacteria that live on the plane and your seat.

The flight attendant compared leaning your head against the window to wearing shorts.

In the TikTok video, Mr. Cimato explains the five things you should never do as a passenger on an airplane.

Explaining why it’s important that flyers never wear shorts, he said, “Don’t wear shorts or try to wear them when you’re on a plane.

“It’s like the window β€” you never know how clean it will get β€” so if you have pants, you have fewer germs.”

The flight attendant also compared leaning your head against the window to wearing shorts.

He explained, β€œDon’t fall asleep and don’t lean your head against the window. You are not the only one who has done that and you don’t know how many people or children have wiped their hands or other things on the window.

“It’s like the window. You never know how clean it will get, so if you have pants, you have fewer germs.”

And according to the flight attendant, the airplane bathroom is considered one of the dirtiest places on the plane.

Mr Cimato even told his TikTok followers not to touch the fast forward button.

Meanwhile, one person said they are always well dressed for their flight, writing, β€œI always wear slacks and a t-shirt and blazer when I fly. so incredibly comfortable and lots of pockets and you look great.’

While others were left shocked to find that the plane isn’t cleaned as often as they thought, as one person wrote, ‘don’t for God’s sake clean the plane before every flight’.
