Aidan Turner stops traffic in a vintage car while filming new Disney+ series Rivals

Poldark star Aidan Turner shows off a bold mustache as he pulls through traffic in a vintage car while filming the new Disney+ series Rivals

Aidan Turner looked rather serious on Thursday when he went to the set of his new Disney + series Rivals.

The actor, 39, stopped traffic during filming in the Tetbury while driving a vintage yellow Mini Clubman station wagon.

He looked worlds away from his Poldark character Captain Ross as he was depicted sporting an all-new look, swapping his usual stubble for a handlebar mustache.

The Irish star rocked a rather smart ensemble including a khaki blazer, a colorful pink plaid shirt and a skinny black tie.

Aidan was spotted walking with his hand in his gray trouser pocket and slipping on a pair of brown lace-up boots.

The TV star made a U-turn in the vintage car before crew members saw the rain wipe off the windshield.

Aidan plays intelligent TV presenter Declan O’Hara, who will be convinced to leave the BBC for independent channel Corinium, only to feel abandoned.

His character is married to Maud, played by fellow Irish actor Victoria Smurfit.

The upcoming adaptation of Jilly Cooper’s iconic novel also features Danny Dyer, David Tennant, Emily Atack, Katherine Parkinson, Oliver Chris and Claire Rushbrook.

Set in 1986, the story follows the cutthroat world of independent television, including the tense rivalry between Rupert Campbell-Black (Hassell) and Lord Tony Baddingham (Tennant).

Following the announcement, executive producer and Rivals writer Jilly Cooper commented, “I’m utterly enchanted to be able to announce our all-star lineup for Rivals”.

‘Featuring some of the best acting talent the British Isles have to offer, I couldn’t have dreamed of a better cast’.

Before adding, “I can’t wait to get on set and see them bring to life the characters I love so much. “From the moment we met Alex, we knew he would be the perfect embodiment of my all-time hero, the iconic, feisty, ruthless and devastatingly handsome Rupert Campbell-Black. Viewers are in for a treat!’.

According to Disney+, Rivals is a “joyful naughty rollercoaster ride, steamy in its love stories and brimming with larger-than-life characters.”

The streaming service continues that it brings a “lens from the 2020s to the 1980s” and offers a “crude exploration of a complicated moment in British history when class, race, sex, wealth and sexual liberation meant that for the very privileged few were no limits to what they could achieve’.

Rivals is produced by Happy Prince, part of ITV Studios, and airs globally on Disney+, Hulu in the US and Star+ in Latin America.
