You have to hand it to Nintendo. The Switch is now 7 years old (and just shy of the long-awaited launch of the Switch 2), and the company is still desperately trying to appeal to those who don’t already own the beloved handheld console. Its latest effort includes two Switch bundles, both of which include a digital copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe — reportedly the best-selling Switch game of all time, grossing 63 million — and a 12-month individual subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.
Both the regular Switch and the Switch OLED are getting the bundle treatment, with each going for their usual retail price of €299.99 And €349.99respectively, and are expected to be available in October. While it’s not as exciting as a hardware price cut, you’re getting $79 worth of stuff at no extra cost. We’ll add more store links as they become available.
Nintendo Switch Online may not seem as flashy as Mario Kart 8 Deluxebut it deserves your attention. The subscription enables online multiplayer, but even more impressively, it offers dozens of classic NES, SNES, and Game Boy games that you can play on the Switch. Not only that, most game saves are stored in the cloud, and members can purchase a two-pack of Game Vouchers for $99.98, which gets you $20 off two of the Switch’s biggest titles, like the upcoming The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and more.
Nintendo has released numerous Switch bundles over the years, though it typically prefers to push out Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for holiday shoppers. I’m hoping we’ll see the return of other bundles that I personally find more interesting, like the “Choose One” bundle that was available in early 2023, which allowed shoppers to redeem one of three digital Mario games: Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, or New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. It’s possible that Nintendo will wait until later this year to launch more bundles, like the Switch OLED bundle from last holiday season that Super Smash Bros. UltimateNintendo Switch Online and Joy-Cons with a custom design.
