Afrobeats singer MohBad dies at 27: Artist’s death confirmed in statement saying he is ‘finally at peace’
Afrobeats singer Mohbad has died at the age of 27.
In a statement shared on the singer’s Instagram page, it was confirmed that Mohbad – real name Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba – passed away on Tuesday, September 12.
The message said the artist was “finally at peace,” with the family asking for privacy during this difficult time.
The statement read: “It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba PK/A Mohbad (Imole) today, September 12, 2023.
“Mohbad was light until the very end, and as we mourn the loss of the brightness he carried, the family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time . Imole is finally at peace.’

The Nigerian star’s cause of death is yet to be confirmed.
Fans and friends of the rapper were quick to share their sadness and condolences in the comments.
One wrote: “Good night king,” while another shared: “Rest to champion.”
A third shared some of the artist’s lyrics, writing: ‘You don’t have to hurt him before you win, you don’t have to kill someone before you sin. This text now came across differently. Goodnight IMOLE.”
“He wanted ‘peace’ but now he rests in ‘peace’,” said a fourth fan.
While another simply added: ‘May your soul find peace’.
MohBad’s promoter Ovie also confirmed the sad news in his own statement on Twitter (now known as Mohbad is dead. Sad, sad day. REST IN PEACE’
In an additional message, Ovie added: “It is important to apply wisdom and caution when it comes to Mohbad’s death. I’m already seeing some wild tweets. Don’t make ridiculous insinuations. Be very careful.’

Born in June 1998, MohBad was previously signed to Naira Marley’s Marlian Records until his departure from the label in 2022.
He is survived by his wife Wunmi, with whom he shares a son.
