Wayne Carey made a series of blunt admissions about the career-ending affair with his teammate in a series of remarkable tweets from his Twitter account.
The AFL legend, 52, boasted on the social networking site on Wednesday night that he slept with Anthony Stevens’ wife Kelly “three times” during their infamous affair in 2002.
Carey’s tweets began when he expressed his opinion about AFL teams trading players.
‘If your club gets a player who plays in your position? That should always be used as motivation to have the best pre-season you’ve ever had,” the former Kangaroos star wrote.
‘Difference between being good and being great?? Absolutely nothing beats hard work #tradeshow.’
Wayne Carey has made a series of stark admissions about the affair with his teammate’s life that ended his career in a series of remarkable tweets from his Twitter account
The AFL legend, 52, boasted on the social media site on Wednesday night that he slept with Anthony Stevens’ wife Kelly “three times” during their infamous 2002 affair.
But fans were quick to remember that Carey had changed clubs in 2002: ‘How come you’ve changed clubs?’ one fan cheekily commented on the thread, to which Carey replied: ‘Really?’
“You didn’t try hard enough?” another added to the joke.
Several others added teases, until a user explained that Carey was changed after an extramarital affair with Anthony Stevens’ wife, Kelly.
‘He slept with a teammate’s wife!’ he wrote the order, to which the footballer responded with ‘3 times’.
The naughty posts didn’t stop there — the same fan jokingly asked the football star if he was ‘back on the bags’, referring to Carey’s Perth Crown Casino incident after a bag of white powder fell out of his pocket while gambling there.

He later claimed that the powder was crushed into anti-inflammatory drugs and painkillers.
Kerry’s response to the ‘bags’ remark on Twitter was simply a crying laughing emoji.
It is not clear if Kerry’s social media account was hacked.
Carey’s affair with Stevens’ now ex-wife shocked the world when they were caught in the toilet at a house party, leading to the two-time premiership captain leaving the club in disgrace.
It’s a crack that never heals.
Last year, the pair were at the Yarraville Railway Hotel for a 1996 Prime Ministerial reunion when Kerry allegedly ‘went on’ Stevens.
Witnesses claimed Carey accused Stevens of “talking behind his back and telling people he couldn’t be reached and wasn’t trying to get a hold of him, but then he was fine in person.”
Stevens and Carey played together for North Melbourne from 1989 to 2001 before the betrayal was discovered.
After leaving the club in disgrace, Carey joined the Adelaide Crows in 2003 and took to the field against his former teammates in a fiery showdown that saw him go head-to-head with Stevens.
In a twist, Stevens was named club captain following Carey’s departure.
In an interview with veteran journalist Mike Sheehan on Fox Footy in 2015, Stevens said he told his former team-mate to ‘hang on’ at the time, but was also disappointed by Carey’s behavior following the betrayal.
“That’s the one thing he’s never done,” Stevens said, when Sheahan asked if Carey had apologized.
“He never really bothered to apologize – for whatever reason.”
