AFL giant Toby Greene had to promise his pregnant wife Georgia Stirton he would be “home by midnight” before being cleared to work on Derby Day.
The Australian captain and former AFL bad boy told FEMAIL he received a “touch on the shoulder” from his glamorous other half before heading to the Schweppes tent at the Birdcage on Saturday.
He explained that his wife, who is 24 weeks pregnant, had flown to Sydney and opted to skip the races after staying up late at a friend’s wedding the night before.
“She was wrecked, so she went home,” he said, adding that they were “well behaved” despite the late evening.

The famous 30-year-old said he planned to keep the promise he made to his wife, but admitted it would be difficult if ‘his horse’ took first place.
“I’m going to bet on most races,” he said.
Unfortunately, Speak did not finish in race two.
The sports star wore black trousers and a white blazer during the event, which neatly met the clothing requirements.
He revealed that he received the ensemble last year during a trip to Egypt, where Georgia, a professional basketball player, was playing in a one-off tournament at the pyramids.

Georgia shared photos of herself posing in the desert during the trip – where she revealed she was beyond grateful for the cool opportunity.
Despite her own professional sports career, Georgia seems to have always been her husband’s biggest fan.
She gave him a huge shout-out earlier this year when he ran onto the field for his 200th game: “couldn’t be more proud.”
