He watched at the MCG as his teammates won their first flag in 12 years, and after some searching and searching the vice-captain decided it was time for a fresh start in the Harbor City.

“It would have been nice to be part of the grand final, but that's the way it goes,” Adams said.

'By the end of the year I was clearly playing from my favorite position at Collingwood. I (also) felt like my footy was in decline, and there is probably room for a new midfielder at the Swans.

“The football club is in a great position, they (Swans) played in the grand final two years ago and the final this year.

“It's a new start for myself and my fiancé to remove ourselves from the (Melbourne) bubble, go to the eastern suburbs and try something new.”

The Swans have quickly revamped their squad following the departure of Buddy Franklin, with Brodie Grundy, former Fremantle defender Joel Hamling and ex-Melbourne Demons midfielder James Jordon new faces at the Bloods.

Adams emphasized that he “does not need to change the club's culture, his role is simply to strengthen it.”

He also wants to lift the premiership trophy on September 30 next year.

“There's only one thing I want to get my hands on, it's pretty obvious,” he said News Corp.

“I played in the 2018 granny (grand final) but came up short… I've been chasing one of them (flags) for 12 years.

'As you approach the pointy end of your career it becomes even more about a premiership. Hopefully that's why I'm here and we can get one.

“We have a very good team here and I'm looking forward to being part of it.”
