AFL star Tarryn Thomas’s career hangs by a thread as disturbing new video of Kangaroo emerges
Footy star Tarryn Thomas’ career hangs in the balance when a disturbing new video of Kangaroo emerges and the club makes a damning statement about his future with the team
North Melbourne could be ready to sack troubled star Tarryn Thomas after footage emerged of the midfielder driving in a dangerous manner.
The 23-year-old was withdrawn indefinitely last month – for the second time – by the Kangaroos over concerns about his behavior towards women.
Thomas has been told to stay away from the club until he makes progress in a respectful behavior education program.
The latest images, which Thomas shared with his close friends on Instagram, could be the final straw for his future in Arden Street.
In the clip, the Kangaroos midfielder can be seen driving a car in cruise control with his legs and feet resting on the center console.
The vehicle then drifts into the wrong lane and Thomas reportedly captioned the video “living my best life.”
‘[Tarryn] Thomas has been absent from the AFL program for the past three weeks and will continue to spend time away from the club,” North said in a statement Tuesday evening.
“The club will continue to review Thomas’ progress to meet club and community expectations.
“He has not made enough progress at this stage to return to the club environment.”
Thomas was charged in January with threatening to distribute an intimate image and faced trial last month. The case returns to Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on July 18.
In February, Thomas faced two charges of violating a court order, but those charges were dropped.
North Melbourne were made aware of further allegations of inappropriate conduct last month, which they reported to the AFL Integrity Unit.
Thomas has not been eligible for senior selection so far this season, but is allowed to play in VFL exhibition games.
The Kangaroos have said Tarryn Thomas has come no closer to a return to the club after being withdrawn indefinitely in March over concerns over his behavior towards women.

The Kangaroos previously indicated that Thomas is running out of chances and head coach Alastair Clarkson said last week that the talented youngster still had work to do before earning an AFL recall.
“There are three buckets to tackle,” he said.
“One is with AFL integrity [unit] and the police, there is another within our own club and then there is the football conditioning.
“He continues to check those boxes and if we get a green check for all of them…we expect that to be in the next three or four weeks.”
A first round draft pick in 2018, Thomas played 57 games for North Melbourne and scored 45 goals.
