The AFL star’s wife, Jeremy Finlayson, shared a touching update on social media as she battles terminal cancer.

Kellie Finlayson, who previously beat a bout with bowel cancer, only to have it spread to her lungs, posted some very encouraging news this week.

It came shortly after she met pop megastar Ed Sheeran in person before his concert in Adelaide.

“In keeping with this week’s ‘lucky girl syndrome’ theme, my tumor markers are below suspicion levels, the chemotherapy is working better than expected, and the cancer is unable to thrive.” the mother-of-one wrote on Instagram.

‘Someone buy me a lottery ticket, honestly.’

Kellie Finlayson, the wife of AFL star Jeremy Finlayson, has shared a moving update on social media as she battles terminal lung cancer.

Follow the love-struck couple who tied the knot last weekend on Tennyson Beach in South Australia.

Finlayson, 27, has been a busy woman of late.

She married her imposing ruckman from Port Adelaide last Sunday in front of family and friends on Tennyson Beach, after her nuptials were postponed last October due to her cancer diagnosis.

“I wanted to marry my hair and I started losing hair,” Kellie told the Adelaide Advertiser.

She wanted her wedding to be a quiet, private event and “a surprise to everyone but our bridal party and the family and friends who attended.”

The event took just three weeks to plan, with help from Kellie’s diligent bridal party and modeling agency, The Models.

The love-struck couple plans to have a bigger celebration in October when the AFL season ends, with Kellie also vowing to get over her diagnosis and be there for her husband and daughter Sophia.

Finalyson’s cancer journey has inspired many and he had some sage advice for anyone experiencing symptoms.

The inspiring couple is pictured outside their home recently with their daughter Sophia.

More than anything, Kellie (pictured with Sophia) hopes her experiences will make others more diligent about seeing a doctor if they’re in pain, especially since bowel cancer occurs more often in young people.

“Trust your gut, talk to your doctor, follow up with them,” he said. ‘If they tell you it’s nothing, look for a new doctor, he’s not the one.

And when it comes to bowel cancer, Kellie is living proof that it’s not ‘just a disease of older people.’

“Many people also don’t realize or don’t know about the cost of medical expenses,” he said.

‘Luckily I had medical insurance and I went to a private hospital.

‘We spent about $150,000 and Medicare only covered $50,000. But you have no choice but to pay it when your life is in danger.
