AFL star Jack Ginnivan is slammed by fans by dressing as serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer for Halloween

Collingwood’s Jack Ginnivan has found himself in hot water again, this time for glorifying a serial killer on Halloween.

The 19-year-old AFL star posted images to social media of himself dressed as Jeffrey Dahmer, complete with blood-spattered shirt and his iconic glasses.

Dahmer was an infamous American serial killer known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or the Milwaukee Monster who brutally murdered 17 people, often performing necrophilia and cannibalism on his victims.

He was recently portrayed by actor Evan Peters in the Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Storywho received fierce criticism from the victims’ families, including the mother of aspiring model Tony Hughes.

Ginnivan was widely reported on social media for his choice of costume, with many asking him to consider the victims’ loved ones.

“I’m sure the victims’ families would like the memory… Another blink and a shake of the head… tasteless is a word I could use,” one person wrote.

“You mean the Jeffrey Dahmer who senselessly and cruelly stole the lives of 17 young men? That Jeffrey Dahmer? How would you react if he was dressed as Martin Bryant? Gross,” wrote another.

“These were real people. People. With families and people who loved them,” one person posted a photo of the victims while tagging Collingwood football club.

‘What an absolute disgrace. AFL must immediately fine and/or suspend him,” wrote another.

However, many defended Ginnivan by saying that the objections were “awake” and that people who called out Ginnivan for dressing up as a serial killer were “snowflakes.”

“Anyone angry about this is an asshole. It’s Halloween. People have been dressing up as serial killers for decades. Don’t be such a loser,” another tweeted.

“Here come the awake haters,” posted another.

Earlier this year, Ginnivan and Magpies teammate Isaac Quaynor were forced to apologize for participating in an online trend to rate members of the opposite sex, with alleged negative traits attached to it.

It’s because the sale of Jeffrey Dahmer’s Halloween costumes was banned for sale on eBay leading up to October 31.

An eBay spokesperson told CBS MoneyWatch that the sale of Dahmer accessories violates eBay’s “violence and violent criminals” policy.

Specifically, the policy prohibits entries that “promote or glorify violence or violent acts, or those associated with individuals notorious for committing acts of violence” and is intended to promote safety with respect for victims of violent crime.

Many American bars also banned Dahmer costumes – especially in LGBTQ+ bars in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the serial killer’s birthplace.

“We understand that there is a generation that has not experienced this situation. They may not understand the gravity of the community impact,” said DIX Milwaukee executive Eric Hamilton.

“We don’t want to put customers in a situation where they should see or relive something they really needed to experience.”
