AFL legend Brendan Fevola has revealed he has lost a staggering 32lbs in just one month without exercising once.
Speaking with Australian Men’s Healththe radio host explained that his health came second after he ended his active career.
“I haven’t been to the gym in 13 years,” Brendan told the publication.
‘After I retired, I didn’t see the point of it anymore. I had no reason to stay fit anymore.’
Brendan added that when he stopped exercising, the calories he was taking in continued to “pile up.”
‘When I was playing football, it was fine to eat as much as I was used to because I burned a lot of it off with exercise. But when I started exercising less, it all piled up.’
After realizing he needed to change his lifestyle, Brendan lost an impressive 66 pounds in the past 12 months, including a whopping 31 pounds in the last month by following the keto diet.
Brendan shared that the early hours of his morning radio job meant he was eating more carbohydrate-rich foods.
AFL legend Brendan Fevola has revealed he lost a whopping 31lbs in just one month, without any exercise
“Because I eat breakfast at the wrong times, I’m tired at the wrong times. Before, I was just eating carbs and not getting the right things to keep me awake,” he said.
‘I don’t want to put all the blame on breakfast, because you can still eat well, but it’s about the choices you make.’
He changed his diet with a 30-day challenge from Keto Australia.
The keto diet is a low-carb, high-fat diet that aims to put the body into a state of ketosis, where it burns fat for fuel, aiding weight loss.
Brendan discussed his transformation last month on the Fifi, Fev and Nick breakfast show on Fox FM.
Speaking to Australian Men’s Health, the radio presenter explained that his health took second place after ending his playing career.
After realizing he needed to change his lifestyle, Brendan has lost an impressive 66 pounds in the past 12 months, including an impressive 31 pounds in the last month by following the keto diet
“I’m on a different diet. I’ve been on it for two weeks now and I feel great. I’ve lost about 20 pounds doing keto, which is perfect for me,” he began.
“It’s no carbs, no sugar. I’m not really a sugar person, so I don’t eat that much chocolate.”
Brendan added that he enjoys trying new foods as part of his diet and has already noticed some incredible – and unexpected – benefits.
‘I eat cauliflower rice, cauliflower puree with meat. I eat salmon, fish, chicken. The food is actually beautiful, it’s everything I eat, but without the carbs.
‘I literally walk down the street now and people say, “Is that him, Fev!” because I’m wasting away. Last year I was 280 pounds, which is really heavy. By the time I’m done with this, I’ll be under my playing weight at Carlton. I’ll be about the same weight.’
Brendan previously revealed that he thought he was going to die when he set out to lose 25 pounds in nine days as part of his contract with weight loss guru Jenny Craig.
In 2017, he became an ambassador for Jenny Craig and after it was reported that the weight loss company had gone bankrupt, he revealed what he had to do to meet his contractual obligations.
“I was given a lot of money, but the first six months I had to lose a lot of weight,” he told the radio.
“And the following year you had to stay within two kilos. You were weighed every month, and that didn’t even include food. You had to do it yourself.”
Brendan said the early hours he spent working on morning radio caused him to eat more carbohydrate-rich foods, which he has since cut out
