Fevola took to the field as a player for Hurstbridge in 2016, before joining the Hawks after a sponsorship with General Chicken Co. owner Nuri Sadiku.
Heidelberg West president Craig Toohey told the Herald Sun that the club was looking for a big player and that Fevola was the ideal candidate.
“We’ve never really played the big game and we lost a few players overseas, so we had the points,” Toohey said on Tuesday.
“We thought why not, we looked at it and put up a few names and it didn’t work out.
‘We have a connection, Fev plays SuperRules with our sponsor Nuri at General Chicken Co, he asked if he was interested and before you know it he agreed.
“We also had our last players day, we had a lot of messages, so hopefully everything will fall into place and it will be a good day.”
Fevola made Carlton Football Club in the 1998 AFL Draft and made his debut in the 1999 season with 42 goals; despite Carlton finishing last that year.
Fevola had an eventful AFL career, making his debut for Carlton in 1999 and playing 204 first-class games and scoring 623 goals
