Former North Melbourne defender Scott Thompson has revealed a very embarrassing injury he suffered during a match that left him with an unwanted erection for two weeks.
Thompson, who had an outstanding 12-year career with the Roos, is remembered by many for playing one game in 2019 after tearing his testicle – but that wasn’t his strangest injury.
He spilled the beans on the unfortunate preseason incident when he appeared on Seven’s The Front Bar on Wednesday night.
“I hit a heel in an area where it’s a little bit uncomfortable,” Thompson explained, referring to an accidental hit he got from Dion Prestia.
“I kept playing in the game, nothing really happened. When I was training the next day I had a bit of a problem downstairs. Blood flow down there.
“It wouldn’t go down.”

Show co-host Ryan Fitzgerald stepped in to ask if a nerve in Thompson’s genitals had been compromised.
“Yeah, it all bruised there,” Thomson confirmed. “It couldn’t go down.”
Fitzgerald then quipped, “So how do you actually do it, because Andy paid a huge amount for these pills.”
Thompson went on to explain that the bizarre injury became painful and did not correct itself for 14 days.
‘It hurt a lot. It [lasted] was about two weeks.
“We had a pre-season match at Etihad the week after – I wore two pairs of jockstraps,” he admitted.

The veteran Roo admitted to wearing “two pairs of jockstraps” as the injury persisted
Thompson went on to explain how painful it was to tear his testicle when he was accidentally kicked by Allen Christensen while playing against Brisbane at Gabba.
Veteran Roo was taken straight from the airport to Epworth Hospital after the game for a medical procedure to relieve the swelling.
“That was painful,” he said. “It was like I got hit there normally, but it didn’t go away.
“After that I have a new pain threshold. I had surgery and the stitches are inflamed, so that’s the new threshold.’
Andrew Maher asked, “Begs the question, how are things these days? Are you okay?’
“One is a little smaller,” Thomson smiled.
