Chris Fagan reveals his keys to getting the best from the Lions in the biggest game of their lives – and addresses MCG hoodoo

The Brisbane coach has told Channel Seven he does not want to overload his team with too many instructions and too much information in the build-up to the match, given the many outside distractions that await teams in the grand finals.

He also addressed the hoodoo that has convinced many fans that his party cannot win the flag today.

“In terms of our record at the MCG I can’t argue with it, it’s not very good,” Fagan admitted. ‘But on the grand final day I don’t think it matters where you play.’

Anthony Albanese tackles Pies fans during the Grand Final Breakfast

It is tradition for the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader to attend the meeting on the morning of the decider – and Albanese, a Hawks fan, would not have done the Labor polls in Collingwood any favors with a cheeky swipe at the Magpies faithful.

Fan makes joke about Harris Andrews

Hawks legend Luke Hodge has revealed a footy fan called the Lions’ hotel at night, told reception there was an illness in the Brisbane co-captain’s family and he wasn’t answering his phone – and was connected to Andrews’ room.

When he answered, the fan told him, “You’re not taking any intercept marks today!”

Andrews is one of the best defenders in the game and is the Lions’ interception king – so it’s likely the fan will be proven wrong.
