AFL: Footy streaker evades security at Sydney Swans vs St Kilda

Footy streaker evades FOURTEEN stewards in farcical scenes at the SCG as Sydney’s collision with St Kilda is brought to a halt

A streaker displayed the elite footwork skills that would have made a young Buddy Franklin proud, as no fewer than 14 stewards failed to catch him during Sydney’s clash with St Kilda.

Trailing by seven points deep into the fourth quarter for the Swans, play was brought to a halt when a fan entered the hallowed turf of the SCG on Thursday night.

The streaker swung his top over his head and was allowed to run down the field without being tackled as a plethora of stewards made a seemingly half-hearted effort to stop him.

The fan was able to interfere with the billboards and run up the stairs in the far grandstand when a steward fell over the barrier in hilarious scenes.

“We’ve seen some evasive players tonight, but that goes right to the top of the pile,” said James Brayshaw in his commentary. “It’s one of the great individual performances at the Sydney Cricket Ground.”

Footy fans took to Twitter to comment on the incident that lit up Thursday’s game

“There are more guards than Buddy’s 1000th (goal).”

Some footy fans saw the funny side of things and took to Twitter to mock the incident.

“West Coast just signed the SCG streaker to a two-year contract,” said one fan.

Another added: “That streaker spread better from the stoppage than most Carlton midfielders.”

One fan wrote, “Sydney – T. Streaker – 3 votes.”
