AFL coach Simon Goodwin saves man from drowning in Bali after jumping off a cliff as Demons boss’ heroic act is revealed

Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin saved a man from drowning in Bali on Sunday.

Goodwin, 46, was surfing with friends, including Rick Olarenshaw, on the island of Nusa Ceningan when he saw an alarming incident in the distance.

According to News Corpa young man jumped off a cliff into the water and dislocated his shoulder.

The man was heard screaming in pain, prompting Goodwin to rush over and lift him onto his surfboard, away from the crashing waves.

He then swung down a jet ski and put the man on board, out of danger.

The Mahana Point Cliff is a famous spot for thrill seekers who enjoy cliff diving and looking out over the deep blue ocean.

Goodwin is on a surfing holiday and was in Lembongan with Olarenshaw last week.

“While he was saving lives, I was catching waves,” said Olarenshaw, who became premier at Essendon.

“The father (of the young man) jumped into the water to help his son, recognized Goody and started talking.

‘Goody’s response was: ‘Let’s save your son first and then talk about footy later.’

“Goody showed a lot less courage when the sea serpent came his way.”

Melbourne has had a turbulent off-season and reports of behavioral issues are circulating.

There were also concerns for the welfare of midfielder Clayton Oliver, who was admitted to hospital after a medical episode.
