Nathan Buckley says he is proud of his son for getting back behind the wheel after a near fatal accident
AFL great Nathan Buckley has backed his son Jett’s decision to return to go-kart racing after a near-fatal crash that landed the 15-year-old in hospital.
The teenager was thrown from his vehicle down an embankment during a practice session last month, and the kart landed on top of him.
‘He just wants to get back to racing. He’s really passionate,” Nathan said of his son.

The soccer legend made the comments while attending the first day of the Australian Open on Monday, reports the herald sun.
Nathan shares Jett with his ex-wife Tania Buckley. The couple separated in 2020 after 18 years of marriage.
Jett suffered horrific injuries in the accident, including a lacerated kidney and liver and a broken clavicle.
His famous father had been across the country in Western Australia when the accident happened.
Nathan had not addressed the accident publicly until Monday.

“I love the fact that he has something of an entrepreneur about him,” said the Fox Sports commentator.
‘You have to be a bit risk averse to be a driver. He goes hard.
Jett, who is a competitive go-kart driver, revealed last week that he was back behind the wheel after his accident.
“I love the fact that he’s got a bit of an entrepreneur in him,” said the Fox sportscaster.
In October, Nathan introduced his girlfriend at the Justin Cassin X Redken show during Melbourne Fashion Week.
Coincidentally, her former partner Alex Pike was sitting just a few feet away.
Regarded as one of the greatest AFL footballers of all time, Nathan played 280 games before going on to coach his beloved Collingwood Football Club.
He has settled back into media roles since leaving the Magpies in 2021.
