AEW star Kenny Omega spoke for the first time about the backstage brawl that followed the company’s All Out show last September.

Omega was involved in a backstage altercation, along with The Young Bucks, with newly crowned AEW Champion and former WWE Superstar CM Punk and his former trainer and friend Ace Steel.

This followed a controversial post-show media scrum, where Punk criticized both Omega and fellow EVPs Matt and Nick Jackson and accused them of being ‘irresponsible people’ who ‘couldn’t handle a target’.

Punk would also throw shade at several other AEW talents, leading to a backstage brawl dubbed the ‘Brawl Out’ that is still shrouded in secrecy. With the names involved unable to speak publicly about the incident.

However, speaking of a recent episode of Sessions with Renee PaquetteOmega did address the incident, confirming that the full details of what happened will never be known.

“It’s a shame that the general public and others never know what happened and how it could have been prevented and ended differently.” Said the former AEW World Champion.

“I don’t think anyone is happy that it happened or proud that it happened, or anything like that. I think generally everyone thinks it was a terrible situation that wasn’t necessary.

After the events of the night, all of the men involved were suspended pending an investigation, including several superstars who were on the scene trying to break up the fight.

Omega and The Young Bucks would later return to the company in November, however Steel has since been released by the company while Punk remains on the sidelines after undergoing triceps surgery, with his future with the company unclear.

The reigning AEW Trios World Champion thinks the locker room is a better place now, but admits the hardest part was not being able to share what really happened with everyone.

Omega added: ‘I think for a while there was this confusion. Because people were like, hey, we know this happened, we heard this happened, it’s all over the dirty sheets, why don’t we know what happened?

We left and we were sworn to secrecy, we can’t say anything, legally. So, that was the poop part, where everyone was like, why isn’t anyone telling us what’s going on and then you’re forced to come up with your own opinion or theory of what exactly happened?

Especially when it’s like, I’m more of a fan of one person than another, so this is how I’m going to craft the story so that it shows this person in the best possible light.

It may be, most likely it is something else, or it may be a combination of various theories and we may never be able to talk about it.

The important thing is to know that no one was seriously hurt coming out of it, and I’m very grateful for that, and that we’ve moved on with life.

I’m completely fine, it doesn’t dictate what I do, what I say, I’m sure the Bucks are in the same boat. I can’t talk to the other parties, I hope they’re doing well, and I mean it, but that’s about it.

Omega signed with AEW in February 2019, a month after the promotion launched, and is executive vice president of the company along with his teammates The Young Bucks.

However, recent reports have indicated that the 39-year-old might be open to a move to WWE when his contract with AEW ends.
