Advocate Health, Mount Sinai among 10 big health systems in Transcarent provider network
The Transcarent platform integrates directly through the care pathway of each of the ten healthcare systems it partners with, including planning and pre- and post-care, support services and same-day payment for providers.
WHY IT MATTERS
Transcarent says the ecosystem will provide employees of national self-insured employers with faster access to verified high-quality digital or in-person care, higher quality care and affordable and predictable costs with full transparency.
“Our close collaboration with these ten leading healthcare systems will enable us to better design care pathways, provide higher quality care and faster access,” said Glen Tullman, CEO of Transcarent, in a statement.
The former founder and executive chairman of Livongo Health and CEO of Allscripts, now Veradigm, said digital experiences should be combined with hands-on care.
“It’s not either/or; it is and.”
According to the company’s announcement Tuesday, the partnerships enable more coordinated and personalized patient experiences and simplify healthcare for employers, providers and patients.
“To be clear, we are not talking about the lowest cost. We are talking about the highest quality of care, made possible by better processes,” added Dr. Randy Hawkins, Chief Medical Officer of Transcarent.
Hawkins cited the benefits of cost-effective coordination and value-based care incentives that the platform aims to provide a “win-win” for employers and healthcare systems.
“High-quality care reduces the total costs of care. Through early intervention, process design and second opinions, we identify what care is needed and then ensure that it is provided by quality organizations at the right care location.”
The first ten partners in Transcarent’s healthcare system are:

- Baylor Scott & White Health
- Corewell Health

THE BIG TREND
Transcarent emerged in 2021 and announced investments of $200 million for its healthcare IT technology in 2022 and earlier this year in collaboration with ViewFico-founded by American tennis champion Andy Roddick, about virtual orthopedic rehabilitation and musculoskeletal care.
Transcarent’s Orthopedic Consult Solution provides virtual diagnostic exams by orthopedic physicians and surgeons in less than two days via the Transcarent app.
The company has expanded its services, including oncology services, behavioral healthcare navigation and pharmacy benefits tools.
Ahead of a HIMSS23 conversation with HIMSS CEO Hal Wolf, Tullman said virtual care and artificial intelligence are the opportunities that will move healthcare into an era of consumerization.
“At a high level, we are entering an era where the consumer is in charge,” he said Healthcare IT news in April.
ON THE RECORD
“By joining healthcare systems that can ensure both quality of care and competitive pricing, we can reduce administrative burdens and, just as importantly, demonstrate real measurable value for the people who pay for care – employers and their employees Tullman said in a prepared statement.
