Adrian Romeo disappearance: Melbourne man told his family that he was going to see some associates, never to be seen or heard from again. Five months on, police have released a chilling new theory about how he may have vanished

Police suspect that a man who mysteriously disappeared without a trace five months ago may have been the victim of a crime.

Adrian Romeo, 43, was last seen at his home in Dempster Drive, Craigieburn in Melbourne’s north, at around 5.30pm on February 10.

He had told his parents he was going to nearby Greenvale to visit some friends.

It is believed that Mr Romeo left in his gold Camry for a speech in the neighbouring neighbourhood, where he spoke to a number of colleagues.

The 43-year-old has not been heard from since and his bank accounts remain untouched, leading investigators to suspect his disappearance is suspicious.

Mr. Romeo’s phone has been out of service since his disappearance, raising concerns that he is dead.

“Adrian’s disappearance is extremely concerning to police, but also to his friends and family,” Detective Constable Dean Thomas of Victoria’s homicide squad said on Sunday.

“We are very confident that Adrian’s disappearance is suspicious and I suspect he is deceased.”

The 43-year-old (pictured) told his parents he was visiting some colleagues in Greenvale, north Melbourne. He has not been seen since, and has had no contact with friends or family.

Four days after his disappearance, Mr. Romeo was reported missing to the police.

Since then, police have spoken to a number of Adrian’s friends and acquaintances, but no major breakthrough has been made regarding his whereabouts.

Extensive CCTV surveillance was also conducted, with police reviewing hours of footage to piece together his last known steps.

Mr. Romeo left his home in a distinctive gold-colored 2004 Toyota Camry sedan, which has not yet been located but could assist in the police investigation.

Detectives have released a photo of the car as part of their renewed public appeal in the hope that someone will recognise the car.

“There is a possibility that the car has been dumped somewhere, stolen or sold. We would like to get in touch with people who have seen the gold Toyota Camry,” said Inspector Thomas.

‘It could very well be lying somewhere on the street, so I urge people to keep a close eye on it.’

Before his disappearance, Mr. Romeo had a close bond with his friends and family.

It is considered unusual for him not to contact anyone.

“Adrian has a lot of friends, there is nothing in Adrian’s past that links him to organised crime, there is nothing that explains why he would be missing,” Detective Thomas said.

‘Since February, several people have provided us with information about Adrian’s disappearance. We are therefore convinced that there are people who know what happened to him.’

Anyone with information regarding Mr Romeo’s disappearance is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

Mr. Romeo comes from a close family and is close to his friends. The 43-year-old has no ties to organized crime
