A baby giraffe sprinted through a closed area of a Texas preserve for the first time with its mother on March 31.
The little giraffe at Highpoint Haven named Finn was featured in an April Fools video posted yesterday by @geralds.life on TikTok.
Finn was born less than a month ago at the Pilot Point shelter and announced his name on March 20.
Shelter workers have posted several videos of Finn on their social media pages since his birth.
A baby giraffe named Finn stepped outside a barn in Highpoint Haven, Texas, for the first time on March 31. The shelter posted a video of the milestone on social media the next day.
Finn was born less than a month ago at the Pilot Point shelter and his name was chosen later that month by the employees and their social media followers
Finn was born on March 16 at 10:41 a.m. to another giraffe at the sanctuary named Harriet.
Highpoint Haven staff have been recording videos of Finn and Harriet together on social media since the day after his birth.
Before naming him Finn, the staff gave social media users the option to call him Riley, Patrick or Maximillion.
Finn had a successful medical check-up at the shelter and explored the Highpoint Haven shed while staying close to Harriet.

Finn stayed close to Harriet, but managed to enjoy the freedom of the outdoors by the end of the video.
His mother, Harriet, gave birth to him at 10:41 a.m. on March 16 in Highpoint Haven. The employees confirmed on social media that there were no complications during the delivery
Highpoint Haven staff have been recording videos of Finn and Harriet together on social media since the day after his birth.
Indeed, Finn’s mother left the barn without him last Sunday because she was “too excited,” according to a TikToker who did the video’s voiceover.
The shelter staff, or as the TikToker referred to them as the “human butlers,” lured Harriet back into the shed with food.
Harriet then slowly walked back out of the shed after hoping to eat some leaves and twigs that a worker was holding.
Finn hurriedly followed his mother out of the barn, staying behind her almost the entire time.
The baby giraffe walked away from Harriet while she was eating, but he ran back to her just a few seconds later.
“I spoke sternly to her and then we completely had a Lion King moment…” said the TikToker who spoke on Finn’s behalf.
After walking around for a while, Finn finally went back to the barn after a ‘quite tiring’ day and was comforted by Harriet.
Other TikTokers who watched the video couldn’t help but write about Finn and compliment him.
According to the TikToker who did the voiceover, Harriet left the barn before Finn and was lured back in by an employee who started feeding her.
TikTok users complimented Finn in the comments, with a few of them praising the person who did the video voiceover and the reference to The Lion King
‘I love Finn! His grumpy face is seriously the best, one TikToker wrote.
More than one TikTok user has also praised the person who did the voiceover in the video, and one TikTok user joked about the reference to The Lion King.
“Simba, everything that touches the farm will be your kingdom,” the person wrote.
TikTokers who have watched Finn’s other videos have supported the baby giraffe in the comments section.
