A Texas fire dog managed to open the front door of a building to let her human colleague in.

Koda, who is based at the Georgetown, Texas Fire Department north of Austin, could be seen waiting for her colleague at a glass door.

Unbeknownst to the golden retriever, her colleague had forgotten his front door key and he was unable to enter.

Within seconds of arriving at the front door, the firefighter was able to signal the pup to open the door to let him back in.

Koda wagged her tail before jumping up and pushing the metal beam to open the door for the emergency responder to enter.

Once back inside you saw the fireman give Koda a friendly pat, no doubt grateful that he was no longer standing outside in the dark.

The entire episode was captured thanks to a surveillance camera above the entrance.
