Adobe will be ending its popular 20GB Photoshop and Lightroom plans very soon, so make sure you make the right move
- Adobe is eliminating its cheaper 20GB storage tier for Creative Cloud

- This is intended to encourage users to migrate to more expensive annual subscriptions
Designed for hobbyists and professional photo editors, the 20GB Adobe Creative Cloud Photography Plan provides low-cost access to industry-standard tools Photoshop and Lightroom.
However, starting January 15, 2025, Adobe will be phasing out this popular subscription – and according to our previous report, existing users will still be able to keep their subscriptions, albeit at a higher cost.
In the US, the 20GB plan will increase from $9.99 to $14.99 per month for users already subscribed to it; an increase of 50%. The 1TB plan for both Photoshop and Lightroom remains unchanged at $19.99 per month. The 1TB Lightroom-only plan increases from $9.99 to $11.99 per month, a 20% increase.
Major (cost increases) in Japan
Recently messages from Japan (originally published in Japanese) reveal that the 20GB Photography & Lightroom plan is getting a similar treatment there.
The monthly subscription, which currently costs 1,180 yen per month, will increase to 1,780 yen when renewed after January 15, 2025.
As in the US, any user who does not subscribe to the 20 GB plan before January 15 will no longer be able to do so.
The report also claimed that the annual payment option, which costs 14,080 yen (which equates to approximately 1,173 yen per month), will remain available and will not be affected by the price increase.
In addition, Adobe will provide a pro-rata refund for the remaining period of the monthly subscription for those who switch to the annual option.
